Natalie, Level 7 at Olympica, takes home 3 bronze medals

Olympica Gymnastics of Laguna Hills brought home 11 top three podium wins at the State Championships at the Ontario Convention Center March 17-19.

Level 7 gymnast Sarah Quan won her fifth gold medal of the season on bars to earn the State Championship title with a score of 9.800. Quan won silver on floor (9.800) and bronze in the all around (38.150). Also in the 12-year-olds’ division, teammate Natalie Bray (Dana Point) won three bronze medals on vault (9.625), bars (9.700), and floor (9.675). In the 11-year-old division, Mission Viejo’s Zita Conot won silver on beam with a score of 9.700 while San Clemente’s Alex Tornberg won bronze on floor in the 13 year olds’ division with a 9.700.

Olympica’s Level 6 gymnasts earned three-second place wins. In the 10-year-olds’ division Julia Rojas (San Clemente) won silver on floor (9.750). In the 11-year-olds’ division Ella Proctor earned silver on beam (9.650), and San Clemente’s Regan Johnson won silver on floor in the 12-year-olds’ division (9.475).
“What a great State meet we had this past weekend for our levels 6-10,” said Olympica head coach, Brent Gohres, in a press release. “We had so many solid performances and near-perfect routines. These athletes continue to impress me with their work ethic and positive attitude. I am extremely proud of our athletes.”
In the six meets of the USA Gymnastics’ optional season, Olympica’s 25 gymnasts brought home 52 bronze, 68 silver, and 75 individual gold medals along with 1 bronze, 2 silver, and 5 gold team wins for their Level 6 and 7 teams.

Level 7-10 gymnasts head into regional competitions in April where they will take on the best of the west.
